«I’m very proud to announce this, since I’m a huge fan of this band and I never thought I’d meet them personally. For many years I played their hits on radio and, finally, I’ll have them on stage». With these words, artistic director Amadeus revealed that Depeche Mode will be special guests at the final of Sanremo 2023 (February 11th).
Dave Gahan and Martin Gore will hit the stage of the Ariston Theatre for the first time since 1990. It will be their fourth performance as guests of the event. The first time dates back to 1986, then they returned in 1989 and 1990 (with the hit single Enjoy the Silence).
Depeche Mode add up to the long list of guests revealed over the last few weeks. At the moment, they and the Black Eyed Peas are the only international artists scheduled to perform. But rumour has it that another international artist, of Italian descent, will also appear.
In spring, Depeche Mode will release their new album, Memento Mori. It is possible that we hear something from it during their performance at Sanremo.
