American Music Awards 2025, Kendrick Lamar è l’artista con più candidature

Sono stati annunciati i candidati degli American Music Awards 2025 e Kendrick Lamar si è confermato l’artista del momento con un totale di 10 nominations, tra cui artista dell’anno, album dell’anno (GNX) e canzone dell’anno (Not Like Us). Il risultato più impressionante è pero che il rapper abbia tre delle cinque candidature per la canzone hip-hop: oltre al già citato diss contro Drake compare anche con Like That con Future e Metro Boomin, Luther con SZA. K-Dot, che ha già ottenuto tre vittorie agli AMAs, se dovesse vincere in tutte e otto le categorie potrebbe eguagliare Michael Jackson e Whitney Houston per il maggior numero di premi in un solo anno.

La cerimonia, che sarà presentata per la seconda volta nella sua storia da Jennifer Lopez, è in programma sabato 26 aprile a Las Vegas. La cantante era già stata conduttrice nel 2015.

Post Malone è il secondo artista classificato in termini di nomination con otto. Tra queste ci sono artista dell’anno, album dell’anno (F-1 Trillion) e canzone dell’anno per I Had Some Help con Morgan Wallen. Posty, che ha già vinto premi nelle categorie rap/hip-hop e pop/rock, potrebbe vincere un premio in un terzo genere. Ha infatti tre nomination nelle categorie country. Inoltre, nella categoria per la migliore collaborazione, è in lizza con due brani: quello con Wallen e Fortnight con Taylor Swift.

Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan e Shaboozey seguono con sette nomination. Sei artisti invece sono a pari merito con sei candidature ciascuno: Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA e Taylor Swift. Quest’ultima, artista più vincente nella storia degli AMAs con 40 trionfi, potrebbe estendere il suo vantaggio in caso di vittoria in una delle sei categorie.

Le statistiche

Le nominations degli American Music Awards 2025 sono interessanti soprattutto per comprendere l’andamento dell’industria musicale. Tra le statistiche più rilevanti c’è quella relativa alle artiste: sette dei 10 candidati all’album dell’anno sono donne, così come sei dei 10 candidati all’artista dell’anno. Va meno bene per le band. Dei 49 artisti che hanno ricevuto due o più nomination, solo tre sono gruppi o duo, segno di quanto siano dominanti le personalità soliste in questa epoca. I Fuerza Regida sono a quota tre, seguiti dai Linkin Park e dai Twenty One Pilots con due ciascuno.

Altro dato interessante è quello relativo al country. Due dei cinque candidati per l’album country dell’anno sono artisti neri, segno di una maggiore diversità in questo genere. Si tratta di COWBOY CARTER di Beyoncé e Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going di Shaboozey. Entrambi sono anche candidati, rispettivamente, come artista country femminile e artista country maschile.
