On Friday, September 8th, GORDO released his own remix of Cenere, the smash hit of the Italian rapper Lazza. The song topped the Italian chart after finishing second at the last edition of the Sanremo Festival.
With his dance remix of Cenere, the Nicaraguan-American DJ/Producer once again shows his taste in fusing musical styles from across the globe. His previous release was the single Parcera, created with Colombian superstar Maluma.
Listen to Cenere (GORDO Remix)
GORDO premiered the remix of Cenere at Italy’s Nameless Festival in June, performing with Lazza himself. In his version, Cenere (originally a song between rap and pop) has gotten a complete overhaul. It boasts a dance-infused tempo that surges beyond 140 bpm. GORDO’s take on Cenere kicks off with a pumping baseline featuring a 90’s flare and a kick drum that propels the beat far beyond its original, slower pace, before gradually introducing Lazza’s vocals during the track’s break.
Gordo is a new house music alias from the artist previously known as Carnage. His quest for this new sound has led to releases such as KTM, which became an instant Top 10 hit on the Beatport Main Chart, TARAKA, which was named after his own event series, RIZZLA, R U 4REAL.
His releases Hombres y Mujeres alongside Colombian superstar FEID and El Mas Chingon with Dominican singer El Alfa, as well as his numerous sold out gigs in Latin America, see GORDO’s return to his Hispanic roots.
He is fully committed to helping build schools and education centers in Nicaragua as well as Guatemala, where he was raised, with the latest opening its doors in February 2023 in Guatemala’s Nuevo Eden.
Already having established his name among dance music enthusiasts, GORDO produced six tracks on Drake’s latest album, Honestly Nevermind. He got crowned #1 producer on Billboard’s Hot 100 Producers chart and #1 Hispanic DJ by DJ Mag and released his debut BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
