Spotify unveiled its new Global Debut chart this week. Among the Top 10 there are now seven songs that landed in the chart directly from Sanremo 2024, ended on Feb. 10. Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign dominate the chart with their song “Talking”, from Ye’s new album “VULTURES 1”. Two Italian entries complete the podium. Position n.2 is held by Mahmood’s “Tuta Gold” (also n.27 in the Top 50 Global and n.7 in global searches on Genius Lyrics). The third position goes to Geolier’s “I p’ me, tu p’ te” (who finished second in the song contest, after winner Angelina Mango).

The rest of the Top 10 of Spotify’s Global Debut chart sees Noah Kahan’s “Forever” and, again from Sanremo 2024, confirming the unprecedented impact of the Italian song contest on music streaming, Annalisa’s “Sincerely” (that finished third in the final ranking of the Festival), Angelina Mango’s “La Noia” (she will represent Italy at Eurovision 2024, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden, from May 7th to the 11th), Irama’s “Tu No” and Gazzelle’s “Tutto Qui”. Madison Beer makes it to n.9 with her song “Make You Mine”.

Sanremo songs in Spotify’s Debut Global in 2023 and 2022

The same phenomenon occurred last year and even earlier, in 2022, although not as massively as this year. As a matter of fact, in 2023 there were six Sanremo songs in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Debut Global (Lazza’s “Cenere”, Mr.Rain’s “Supereroi”, Marco Mengoni’s “Due Vite”, Madame’s “Il Bene nel Male”, Rosa Chemical’s “Made in Italy”, Tananai’s “Tango”).

In 2022 four Sanremo songs made it to the top 10 of the chart. They were Mahmood and Blanco’s “Brividi” (that even reached the first position of the chart), Irama’s “Ovunque Sarai”, La Rappresentante di Lista’s “Ciao Ciao”, Elisa’s “O Forse Tu”.
