iHeartRadio Music Awards: le nomination da Roddy Ricch a The Weeknd

The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion e Roddy Ricch sono gli artisti con il maggior numero di nomination per gli iHeartRadio Music Awards 2021. L’artista canadese è nominato per otto premi. Megan Thee Stallion e Ricch per sette. Il nome di Harry Styles figura invece in sei categorie. Quello di Justin Bieber in cinque.

Le sette nomination di Roddy Ricch includono la canzone dell’anno, per la sua ospitata in Rockstar di DaBaby. Suoi anche ben tre dei cinque pezzi candidati per la canzone hip-hop dell’anno – Rockstar e i suoi successi The Box e High Fashion (con Mustard).

Le nomination per la canzone dell’anno

Blinding Lights di The Weeknd, snobbata dai Grammy, è nominata per la canzone dell’anno. Gli altri candidati in quella categoria sono Circles di Post Malone, Don’t Start Now di Dua Lipa, Watermelon Sugar di Styles e la già citata Rockstar.

Il feat DaBaby/Ricch, tuttavia, non è tra i nominati per la migliore collaborazione, il che non ha senso, se non usando la logica degli spettacoli di premiazione. Sebbene nessun altro artista abbia eguagliato il record di Ricch con tre nomination in una categoria, Chris Brown e H.E.R. hanno due nomination ciascuno per la canzone R&B dell’anno. Da Pop Smoke alla cover di Lizzo

Pop Smoke, morto il 19 febbraio 2020, è nominato come artista hip-hop dell’anno e miglior nuovo artista sia pop che hip-hop. Molti pensavano che il rapper sarebbe diventato il primo artista a ricevere un cenno postumo ai Grammy come miglior nuovo artista. Alla fine, il comitato che determina i candidati finali ai Grammy nelle categorie Big Four ha deciso di rimanere sugli artisti viventi.

Morgan Wallen non è stato nominato in nessuna categoria. Escluso anche nelle recenti nomination agli ACM Awards, è stato sospeso dalla competizione per i premi e dalla partecipazione alla trasmissione televisiva per un anno a causa del suo uso della N-word in un video.

Chloe x Halle, che hanno pubblicato il loro primo album in studio tre anni fa e hanno ricevuto una nomination ai Grammy come best new artist due anni fa, sono nominate come miglior nuovo artista hip-hop. Andrew Watt, che quest’anno ha vinto un Grammy come produttore dell’anno, è nominato nella medesima categoria, insieme a Dr. Luke, Frank Dukes, Louis Bell e Max Martin.

Passando alle nomination più leggere, la cover di Adore You di Lizzo è nominata per la migliore cover, insieme a quella di Styles di Juice. C’è anche la cover di Shawn Mendes del classico del 1967 di Frankie Valli Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. Ily, il successo di Surf Mesa con Emilee, costruita attorno al successo senza tempo di Valli, è nominato per la canzone dance dell’anno.

L’appuntamento a Los Angeles

Giunti all’ottava edizione, gli iHeartRadio Music Awards celebrano gli artisti e le canzoni più ascoltati sulle stazioni iHeartRadio e sull’app iHeartRadio per tutto il 2020. Le nomination si basano sui dati di consumo, tra cui streaming, vendite di album, vendite di brani e trasmissione radiofonica.

Gli iHeartRadio Music Awards del 2021 andranno in onda in diretta dal Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles il 27 maggio su Fox. L’evento sarà ascoltato anche sulle stazioni radio iHeartMedia a livello nazionale e sull’app iHeartRadio.

A causa della pandemia, la trasmissione televisiva in diretta prevista per l’edizione 2020 degli iHeartRadio Music Awards su Fox è stata annullata. Invece, i vincitori sono stati rivelati durante il weekend del Labor Day attraverso le stazioni iHeartRadio a livello nazionale e sull’app iHeartRadio.

Gli ascoltatori di iHeartRadio avranno l’opportunità di decidere i vincitori in diverse categorie, che vi proporremo successivamente. Il voto dei fan determinerà il miglior esercito di fan di quest’anno, i migliori testi, la migliore cover, il miglior video musicale, il premio social star, il premio per la coreografia del video musicale preferito e il TikTok Bop of the Year.

La votazione social inizia mercoledì e si chiuderà il 19 maggio alle 6 italiane per tutte le categorie. I fan possono votare su Twitter utilizzando la categoria appropriata e gli hashtag nominati o visitando iHeartRadio.com/awards.
