Mahmood to Perform at the Final of Eurovision 2023 as Guest Artist
For the first time outside of Italy, an Italian artist will sing as guest performer during the last night of the song contest, which will take place on May 13 at the Liverpool Arena
On May 13, Italian singer Mahmood will hit the stage of the Liverpool Arena during the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It is the first time that an Italian artist gets invited to sing as a guest performer at an edition of the song contest outside of Italy.
With Mahmood’s presence, the number of Italian artists performing at ESC 2023 goes up to four. It includes Marco Mengoni (winner of Sanremo 2023 with his song “Due Vite,” with which he competes at Eurovision), Alessandra (representing Norway, but born and raised in the region of Liguria) and the band Piqued Jacks (representing San Marino, but coming from Tuscany).
It will be Mahmood’s third appearance at Eurovision. He represented Italy in Tel Aviv in 2019 after winning Sanremo with “Soldi” (“Money”). Then he was in Turin last year after winning the Italian song contest for the second time with “Brividi” (“Shivers”), together with Blanco.
“I’m so happy to go to Eurovision again,” said Mahmood. “I want to thank the organizers for inviting me as a guest. It’s a great honor for me. I can’t wait to hit that prestigious stage in front of a unique audience.”
The two semi-finals of Eurovision 2023 will be broadcasted on May 9 and 11 respectively.
